State League top team - Mount Gambier Pioneers (6-0) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Thunder (1-4) in Melbourne 96-88. Strangely Thunder outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 49-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Nick Marshall (196-1999, college: Clarke) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 6 rebounds. Michael Harris contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jacob Lampkin (206, college: Alaska-Anch.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Tyler Kidd (196, college: Ohio Northern) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Thunder. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Thunder's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Mount Gambier Pioneers maintains first position in League with 6-0 record. Thunder at the other side dropped to the sixteenth place with four games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers are looking forward to face league's second-placed Geelong Supercats at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Thunder will have a break next round.
