Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Spectres (5-5) were outscored by first ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (9-1) in East Burwood 113-74 on Sunday. Mount Gambier Pioneers dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spectres' 36 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Spectres 45-31 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mount Gambier Pioneers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Michael Harris who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American forward Jordan Rawls (198, college: Allegheny) accounted for 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. Jack Gandolfo came up with 23 points and 4 assists and American center Dain Swetalla (206-1986, college: Augustana, IL) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Spectres in the defeat. Spectres' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mount Gambier Pioneers maintains first place in League with 9-1 record. Loser Spectres dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
