Regular Season Round 23: Ringwood H. - Eltham W. 73-67

Very predictable result when thirteenth ranked Ringwood Hawks (5-5) won against bottom-ranked Eltham Wildcats (0-8) in Heathmont 73-67 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Emmett Naar (185-1994, college: St.Mary's, CA) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Ringwood Hawks players scored in double figures. New Zealand swingman Mitchell Dance (192-2001) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Joshua Sykes (203, college: Fresno City) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Eltham Wildcats in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ringwood Hawks moved-up to eleventh place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats still closes the standings with eight games lost. Ringwood Hawks will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Eltham Wildcats will play against Frankston Blues (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
