There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Redbacks (6-5) won against 4th placed Giants (6-4) in Kalgoorlie 86-81 on Saturday. Redbacks dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Giants' 30. Redbacks forced 26 Giants turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Louis Timms (206-1991, college: WBU) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Tevin Jackson (202-1994, college: McNeese St.) accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Hussayn Ford (198, college: Northwest) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized South Sudanese guard Gairges Daow (193-1998, college: Dakota St.) added 22 points respectively for Giants in the defeat. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Redbacks maintains ninth place in League with 6-5 record. Loser Giants dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Redbacks will meet higher ranked Wanneroo (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
