Regular Season Round 27: Darwin Salties - Cairns M. 91-84

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Cairns Marlins (4-5) lost on the road to fifth ranked Salties (6-2) 91-84 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Tad Dufelmeier (183-1996, college: CUI) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Makuach Maluach (200-1998, college: N.Mexico) accounted for 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Kody Stattmann (201-2000, college: Virginia) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Ben Ayre (188-1995, college: Newman) added 19 points respectively for Cairns Marlins in the defeat. Four Salties and five Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. Cairns Marlins' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Salties moved-up to third place in League. Loser Cairns Marlins dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Salties will meet Brisbane Spartans (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cairns Marlins will play against Townsville Heat (#13) in Hermit Park and hope to secure a win.
