Not a big story in a game in Mt. Barker where 10th ranked Eastern Mavericks (1-9) were defeated by third ranked Sturt Sabres (7-3) 99-86 on Saturday. Sturt Sabres forced 21 Eastern Mavericks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Canadian Devin Haygood (203-1996, college: NC A&T) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Jacob Rigoni (198-1998, college: Quinnipiac) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. Sturt Sabres' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard James Legan (190-1987, college: ECU) responded with 29 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Greek center Ioannis Dimakopoulos (218-1994, college: UC Irvine) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Sturt Sabres maintains third position in League with 7-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Mackay M. Loser Eastern Mavericks keep the tenth place with nine games lost.
