There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Bendigo Braves (5-6) defeated at home higher ranked Frankston Blues (6-5) 89-73 on Sunday. Bendigo Braves forced 19 Frankston Blues turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized South Sudanese guard Kuany Kuany (201-1994, college: Chaminade) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-1994, college: Xavier, agency: Mansfield and Associates) accounted for 17 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Guard Lachlan Barker (188-1996) came up with 24 points and 4 assists and forward Dan Trist (206-1992, college: Lafayette) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Frankston Blues in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bendigo Braves moved-up to twelfth place in League. Loser Frankston Blues dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Bendigo Braves will meet Eltham Wildcats (#19) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Frankston Blues will have a break next round.
