Very predictable result in Melbourne where third ranked Cougars (10-5) smashed bottom-ranked Gulls (0-15) 108-74 on Saturday. Cougars shot 17 for 24 from the free-throw line, while Gulls only scored one point from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Sharif Black (185-1996, college: Bemidji St., agency: Hamriding Sports Management) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Nathan Davis (193-1998, college: Seton Hill) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Forward Aaron Frost (206, college: Dawson CC) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Kirk Smith (178) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars maintains third place in League with 10-5 record having just two point less than leader Gold Coast R. Loser Gulls still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
