Rather predictable result when third ranked Hawks (12-3) rolled over 5th ranked Tornadoes (10-5) in Heathmont 92-59 on Sunday. Hawks forced 21 Tornadoes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hawks made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Spanish guard Marta Hermida (180-1997, college: Boise St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. Toni Farnworth accounted for 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. The former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) came up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard Charli Kay (173-2004) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Tornadoes in the defeat. Hawks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Tornadoes dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Hawks will meet Cavaliers (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tornadoes will play against Diamond Valley Eagles and hope to secure a win.
