There was no surprise in Melbourne where 6th ranked Vikings (6-14) were crushed by third ranked Cougars (12-6) 108-73 on Saturday. Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Sharif Black (185-1996, college: Bemidji St., agency: Hamriding Sports Management) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and guard Mitchell Barry (190, college: HPU) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward DMonte Evans (190, college: Bluefield) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and Edward Bourke scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Cougars and four Vikings players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars maintains third place in League with 12-6 record having 2 victories less than leader Canberra G. Loser Vikings dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
