There was a surprise result when nineteenth ranked Eltham Wildcats (4-14) won against at home higher ranked Spectres (7-11) 85-78 on Sunday. Eltham Wildcats dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Spectres' 36. New Zealand swingman Mitchell Dance (192-2001) notched 27 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American power forward Joshua Sykes (203, college: Fresno City) supported him with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds by American center Dain Swetalla (206-1986, college: Augustana, IL) did not help to save the game for Spectres. Naturalized American guard CJ Asuncion-Byrd (194-1996, college: LeMoyne) added 23 points. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Spectres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Eltham Wildcats maintains nineteenth position in League with 4-14 record. Loser Spectres keep the fourteenth place with 11 games lost. Eltham Wildcats will meet at home higher ranked Ringwood Hawks (#13) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
