Regular Season Round 3: Adelaide - Illawarra 90-80
Date: October 15, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Findon where Illawarra Hawks (1-4) were defeated by Adelaide 36ers (1-1) 90-80 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Adelaide 36ers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Craig Randall II (193-1996, college: UT Martin) who scored 28 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Robert Franks (201-1996, college: WSU) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Randall II is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized South Sudanese forward Deng Deng (203-1992, college: Baylor) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Tyler Harvey (194-1993, college: EWU) added 16 points and 5 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelaide 36ers will meet Kings in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Illawarra Hawks will play against Bullets (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
