The Cook Islands Basketball Federation announced a 18-name preliminary squad for the upcoming South Pacific Games which will be held in Samoa at the end of August. The team features three NZ-born players, Taratoa and William Metuariki and Daniel Rolls, but also some experienced players like Cecil Heather and Steven Nookura. All the players are holding a NZ passport but they are of course elligible to play under the Cook's flag.
