National Team selct new coach - Apr 20, 2005

Danny Williams will be the coach for the Cook Islands Men's National Team. The team will not be attending the Mini SPG in July but the federation will held the week-long Pacific Rim basketball tournament in Rarotonga in June.

This tournament has already attracted four teams from New Zealand. Scheduled for 13 to 18 June, the teams confirmed include South East Manukau Basketball and Shelton Blazers from Auckland. Invitations have been sent to Pacific countries with registration closing next week. Danny Williams will be assisted by Ezra Howe, says the CIBF which adds that the anouncement of the women's coach will be made at a later date. A men's and women's open and under 18 squads will be chosen by the coaches in May.

Cook Islands submit Preliminary squad for the South Pacific Games - 10 Years ago
The Cook Islands Basketball Federation announced a 18-name preliminary squad for the upcoming South Pacific Games which will be held in Samoa at the end of August. The team features three NZ-born players, Taratoa and William Metuariki and Daniel Rolls, but also some experienced players like Cecil Heather and Steven Nookura.   [read more]
Vaka: Teauotonga wins the title - 11 Years ago
The open Men's final saw the only representation of a Teauotonga team. With all the Vaka pressure on their shoulders the Teauotonga men's team were determined not to let their Vaka down and came out firing. Although Puaikura were the younger of the two teams, Teauotong used their experience and pulled away to an early lead that the Puaikura men could just not claw back.   [read more]
