Australia advanced to the Final game of the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. The home side of the tournament overcame Fiji 99:53 in the second Semifinal of the day. Australia was the favorite of the game and proved their ambitions in the start of the game. They took 25-17 lead in the first period and never looked behind after. Moreover they limited the guests to just 6 points in the second period and led 43:23 at the halftime. Australia managed to win the third quarter 32-20 and finished the game with 24-20 in the last stanza. William Mcdowell-White stepped up with 20 points for the hosts and Darryl Mcdowell-White added 14. Dejan Vasiljevic delivered 13, while Jacob Pupavac and Jock Perry scored 9 each. Mataika Koyamainavure finished the game with 19 points in defeat and Filimoni Vulimailaucala tossed in 10.

The Saints men's basketball team has again defended their title after beating Boston Whites 42-28 in the Easter Basketball Championship yesterday.
Saints captain Leonard Whippy said that the final was tougher than expected but it was their defense that pulled them through.

Fiji clinched Bronze at the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. The team overcame Guam 70:65 in the game for the 3rd-4th places.
Fiji opened the game with 19-7 lead, but allowed the opponents to tie the game after 13-25 in the second frame. Guam tied it at 32:32 at the halftime and even took 4-point advantage entering the last stanza. Fiji however needed a strong 22-13 surge in the last stanza to win the game [read more]

Valiant Borja replied with 16 points in the losing effort and Bruce Merrill tossed in 11. Samuel Sotelo and Maksever Kepwe followed them with 9 points in a loss. Guam made 33 Total Rebounds versus 32 of Fiji.
