Mika Vukona
Virtus Acea Roma (Serie A) signed 33-year old New Zealander-Fijian forward Mika Vukona (198-93kg-82). He just played at Fico Finance Nelson Giants in New Zealand NBL league. In two games he had 10.5ppg, 8.5rpg and 2.0apg this season. This season Vukona played at New Zealand Breakers (NBL) in Australian league. In 32 games he recorded 8.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 2.4apg. He helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. The last season Vukona played at United Byblos Amchit (Division A) in Lebanese league. In four games he recorded 12.3ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.3apg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted All-Australian NBL Honorable Mention in 2011 and 2014. Vukona represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games Additional Qualifying Round in Caracas (Venezuela) three years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 2.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5spg.
Vukona has played previously professionally in Australia (S.Dragons and Gold Coast Blaze).
He could be described: One of the most surprising players in Australian league. Brings a lot of energy on the court, and plays everytime hard and physical. Game after game, he felt his confidence growing and now is a true big league forward. Needs to expand the range of his outside shooting, however, because most of his field goals come from lay-ups, and to improve his 32 per cent free-throw percentage.
