Korea edge Guam at East Asian Games - Dec 6, 2009

South Korea reached the semifinal stage at the 2009 East Asian Games. They knocked down Guam on the final day of the preliminary action in Group B. Chun Jung-Kyu (188-G-83) fired 30 points as Korea claimed the second win and occupied the second spot in the pool. Guam suffered the third consecutive defeat and remained at the bottom of the standings. Korea grabbed the lead right from the tip-off and maintained it well throughout the starting quarter. They poured in 29 points worth a 19-point lead at the first break. Guam adjusted their offence scoring 23 points in the second quarter but South Korea matched it on the other end with 31 points of their own. Guam could not slow their opponents down defensively as Korea stretched the margin at 41 points heading into the fourth term. Korea delivered 31 points in the fourth stanza and celebrated a well-deserved win at the end.
Hyung-Chul Park scored 17 points and 7 assists for South Korea. Park Chan Hee (191-G-87) netted 15 points and issued 11 assists for the winners. Joseph Blas (183-G/F) responded with 20 points for Guam. William Stinnett (186-G-86) dropped 14 points and pulled down 9 boards in the loss. South Korea will take on the winner of tomorrows Taiwan vs. China clash in the semis.

The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team came out on top during their championship match against the KFC Bombers Sunday, Dec. 10. The Tritons ended the game five points ahead of the Bombers, 101 - 96, to take the Triton Men's Basketball League Championship that took place at the University of Guam Field House. Triton Men's Basketball League final four set - 4 days ago
It's a big weekend of basketball at the UOG Calvo Field House. The top four men's basketball teams in the Triton Men's Basketball League face off Saturday Dec. 9 following the completion of the first round of playoffs Thursday night. The championship game is 2 p.m. Sunday. And there's the IIAAG Girls High School championship Saturday night too. UOG trumps KFC in basketball league match - 22 days ago
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team won their 14th straight game of the fall season and ran their record to 6-0 in the Triton Men's Basketball League on Friday night. They defeated the KFC Bombers 92-82 at the UOG Field House. It was a close game for most of the first half, Bombers led 26-25 at the end of the first quarter.
