Korea edge Guam at East Asian Games - Dec 6, 2009

South Korea - Guam 121:72
South Korea reached the semifinal stage at the 2009 East Asian Games. They knocked down Guam on the final day of the preliminary action in Group B. Chun Jung-Kyu (188-G-83) fired 30 points as Korea claimed the second win and occupied the second spot in the pool. Guam suffered the third consecutive defeat and remained at the bottom of the standings. Korea grabbed the lead right from the tip-off and maintained it well throughout the starting quarter. They poured in 29 points worth a 19-point lead at the first break. Guam adjusted their offence scoring 23 points in the second quarter but South Korea matched it on the other end with 31 points of their own. Guam could not slow their opponents down defensively as Korea stretched the margin at 41 points heading into the fourth term. Korea delivered 31 points in the fourth stanza and celebrated a well-deserved win at the end.
Hyung-Chul Park scored 17 points and 7 assists for South Korea. Park Chan Hee (191-G-87) netted 15 points and issued 11 assists for the winners. Joseph Blas (183-G/F) responded with 20 points for Guam. William Stinnett (186-G-86) dropped 14 points and pulled down 9 boards in the loss. South Korea will take on the winner of tomorrows Taiwan vs. China clash in the semis.

Tridents, Harvest earn wins in college hoops league - 2 months ago
The University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Club routed the Pacific Islands University Tide 96-27 Monday in the Guam Men's College Basketball League at the UOG Calvo Field House. In the other game, the Harvest Baptist Bible College team upset Guam Community College 79-73. Tritons improve to 2-0 in men's hoops league - 2 months ago
The University of Guam beat Guam Community College 103-80 Tuesday in the Guam Men's College Basketball League. The Tritons went into halftime with a 50-43 lead and took full control in the second half. Demadjeo Simon scored 26 points with 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Tritons while Anthony Brown scored 23 points with 12 rebounds and Ryan Nangaula added 21 points, according to a UOG news release. The St. Paul Christian Warriors look to build on their undefeated season from last year at the 2018 GSPN Preseason Boys Basketball Tournament, which kicks off Saturday at Father Duenas Memorial School.
