Hoops teams conclude tournament with awards, trophies - Mar 29, 2012

The Golden Hoops Classic Spring Tournament, presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam, ended its six-week run in a day of champions Sunday at Tamuning Gym to a house of passionate fans.

Here are the results of the title matches:

* 18-plus competitive division: Bank of Guam Club defeated the Tamuning Typhoons 81-60 for their first championship title. Top scorers were Bank of Guam's Cory Lorenzo and Typhoons' Bruce Aguon with 16 points each. Bank of Guam's Lorenzo was named the division's Most Valuable Player. Typhoons' Joe Blas received the division top scorer award, scoring a total 219 points, averaging 18.25 points per game.

* 30-plus competitive division: The Typhoons defended their championship title in overtime, 68-67 against the Inarajan Hawks. The Typhoons' Bruce Aguon was awarded the MVP and division top scorer. Aguon scored a total of 226 points, averaging 22.60 points per game.

* 40-plus competitive division: Team Fire Club defended their championship title 55-40 against the Typhoons. Team Fire's Mike Sanchez was named MVP. The Typhoons' Leo Payumo received the division top scorer award totalling 147 points, averaging 13.36 points per game.

* Open recreation division: Bud Mystics secured their fourth championship title against Guam Radiology Club 44-43 in overtime. Mystics' Ramone Salas was named MVP. GRC Dayriel Ollet received the division top scorer award, scoring a total of 119 points.

University of Guam Tritons win basketball league championships - 4 hours ago
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team came out on top during their championship match against the KFC Bombers Sunday, Dec. 10. The Tritons ended the game five points ahead of the Bombers, 101 - 96, to take the Triton Men's Basketball League Championship that took place at the University of Guam Field House. Triton Men's Basketball League final four set - 4 days ago
It's a big weekend of basketball at the UOG Calvo Field House. The top four men's basketball teams in the Triton Men's Basketball League face off Saturday Dec. 9 following the completion of the first round of playoffs Thursday night. The championship game is 2 p.m. Sunday. And there's the IIAAG Girls High School championship Saturday night too. UOG trumps KFC in basketball league match - 22 days ago
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team won their 14th straight game of the fall season and ran their record to 6-0 in the Triton Men's Basketball League on Friday night. They defeated the KFC Bombers 92-82 at the UOG Field House. It was a close game for most of the first half, Bombers led 26-25 at the end of the first quarter.
