New Zealand escape the narrow win to enter the Final of the Pacific Championship. The hosts of the tournament overcame Guam 77:75 and will take on Australia in the Final game. Guam meanwhile will play against Samoa in the game for the third place.
New Zealand opened the game with a 20-16 run, while Guam looked better in the second frame. The latter bounced back with a 19-16 rally and reduced to 1 point at the halftime. New Zealand managed to add 24-23 win in the third quarter as both teams posted 17 points each for the final result in the last stanza.
Aaron Bailey-Nowell (196-G/F-81) paced all the winners with 25 points and Shea Ili (183-G-92) added 14. Puke Lenden (198-G/F-80) poured in 11, whilst Randall Bishop (182-G-87) had 9. Jesus Cruz ended up with 19 points in a loss and Mekeli Wesley (206-F-79, agency: Stanley International, college: BYU) shot 18. Joseph Blas (183-G/F) chipped in with 15, whilst Stinnett had 10.

Tritons improve to 2-0 in men's hoops league - 21 days ago
The University of Guam beat Guam Community College 103-80 Tuesday in the Guam Men's College Basketball League. The Tritons went into halftime with a 50-43 lead and took full control in the second half. Demadjeo Simon scored 26 points with 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Tritons while Anthony Brown scored 23 points with 12 rebounds and Ryan Nangaula added 21 points, according to a UOG news release.
