The FIBA U18 Oceania Tournament is set to take place in Suva, Fiji from Dec. 5-10, according to a news release. Eight men's and women's teams participating will be split into Groups A and Groups B. The top men's and women's team from the FIBA U18 Oceania Championships 2016 will represent the Oceania region at the FIBA U19 World Championships in 2017. 'Our girls team has been preparing diligently for this big event," said Guam Women's National Team Coach Eddie Pelkey . Although we have been hit with injuries and lost some key size, I'm still confident in our teams ability to compete and retain our bronze medal, behind only powerhouse Australia and New Zealand.' 'The U18 Men's Team has demonstrated a great work ethic and teamwork in preparation for the Oceania Championships," said head coach Brent Tipton. "They Value their teammates on and off the court and are working collectively to achieve our goal to finish in the top three with Australia and New Zealand.' Pools have been set and Team Guam Men's will be in the same pool as Australia, Fiji and Tahiti, with our Women's sharing a pool with New Caledonia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
