Outside sniper Brian Flores dazzled everyone, even opponents, while suiting up in the recent Marianas Interscholastic Sports Association's High School Basketball League, and stood out from the rest of the pack as Flores was recognized for his efforts by bagging the most valuable player awards last Wednesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Flores, who throughout his young career has been known to drop bombs from downtown at a consistent rate, was impressive throughout the 2003 season and played a key role for the Saipan Southern High School Manta Rays in their run to claiming their first championship crown.
His threat from long range gave the Manta Rays a boost on offense. With potential scorers Rowell Aranda and Alison Kaipat bagging most of their points in the lane and guard Julian Ranas on soft jumpers, Flores kept opponents off guard how the Mantas would attack each time down the court.
Though still in high school, Flores has made his presence felt in other leagues, suiting up for SIP-Verizon in the 2003 United Filipino Organization Miller Lite Cup and the San Antonio Sixers in the men's 25-and-under BANMI Basketball League.

The Federated States of Micronesia submitted a men team for the upcoming 2007 South Pacific Games which will be held in Samoa but the federation had to withdraw the team due to financial reason.
