AS 6km was unable to stop JS Vallee-du-tir in the first game of the Territorial Cup Final, they fall 33-58 against Challiot & Co. On the ladies side, AS 6km dominated SSI 68-47.
The teams were back in the Jeune Scene Hall for the Territorial Championship Finals. AS 6km was looking for a revenge after two losses in the South Finals (71-73, 61-71) against the same JSVDT team.
"In the South Finals we missed two many shots" said Jean-Marc Delaveuve, AS6km coach, just before the game "We want to show everybody that we can do better".
But it was too hard to stop the talented players from JSVDT, even without their point-guard Julien Gutte (who was injuried in the semifinals) and despite Fabrice Challiot's late arrival, the defending champion were ready to play as the game started. When Fabrice Challiot (198-F/C-74) was warmed up, he could start his one-man show. Blocks, Offensive and defensive rebounds, steals, he was doing everything. He got some great assists from his teamates in the second half and was the game's leading scorer with 21pts. He received a great support from Raymond Weber (195-F-89) who was deadly beyond the three-point range (13pts) and from Gerard Girier-Dufournier (184-G-79) who scored 18pts.
"We took the lead in this game in the very first minutes" said a delighted JSVDT coach Eric Saminadin "We just have to do the same things in the next game and we would reach our goal".
Their goal is another Territorial title and a spot in the 2006 Pacific Champions Cup.
On the women cup, AS6km dominated a tired SS Independente team.
"After three tough games like we played last week, my players are very tired now" warned Jean-Claude Fuller, SSI coach "and we had to play a tough semifinal game in Bourail while AS 6km won by forfeit and enjoyed this rest"
Aware of this physical edge, AS6km would start the game on a very speed mode to take an early lead. At the end of the game, they secured a 21-point victory
"We won easily tonight but we have to stay focused. The trophy will go to the team who wins two games, not to the one who made the biggest margin" said Miguel Delaveuve, AS 6km coach.
