Current NZ Breaker Corey Webster (188-G-88, college: Lambuth) has confirmed he will be returning to the Wellington Saints for the 2013 Bartercard NBL season.

The 23-year-old, 1.88m combo guard played in the Saints championship-winning team in 2011, when they beat the HBS Hawks 106-97 in the Grand Final.

Webster, who was suspended for cannabis use in 2010 and for using a synthetic cannabis product last year, returned to competitive basketball after his one-year suspension in September, in what has been a long and tough journey for the youngster.

Saints CEO Nick Mills is delighted to have Webster back again.

'We have supported Corey through his year off and worked closely with him on his journey back to the court. He brings a hard-working ethos and the dedication that we ask from all of our players."

'We are excited to welcome Corey back into the Saints family.'

Saints head coach Pero Cameron is extremely pleased at Webster's signing.

'Corey is going to be a key part of our team in 2013, so we are happy to have him on board so early in the piece. I know Corey has learnt a lot in his time off, including skills he will bring to the court when he arrives.'

The Saints still have five spots left on their roster to fill for next year's Bartercard NBL, which will start in April 2013.

NZ Select defeat hosts - 3 days ago

His 18 points were gathered at an efficient 8 from 12 from the field, plus 2 from 2 free throws. The victory was built around a dominant rebounding display led by the USA college based pair Sam Timmins (2...   [read more]
