Dillon
Boucher
Dillon Boucher (196-F-75) plays his 200th game for the New Zealand Breakers against the Cairns Taipans on Friday night. Dillon debuted for the club back in October 2003 in the clubs inaugural game against Adelaide 36ers. In that first game he had an amazing 8 steals, which is still a league record for a player on debut and the most steals achieved by a Breakers player in a single game.

Never one to grab the headlines with his scoring feats, Bouchers strength is his high octane defence, unselfish offence and high basketball IQ. He does so many small things that largely go unnoticed but help the team immensely. Blocking out opposition rebounders, setting a screen at the right time in the right place or making a pass to the open man are not skills that are seen in the highlights package on TV or fill the stats sheet after the game but they are the things that the coaching staff and his team mates appreciate.

Former Tall Black colleague and now Breakers assistant coach Judd Flavell has played with played against and coached Boucher and has first hand knowledge of his qualities. He is a hard worker, a great team mate and does whatever is needed for the team says Flavell who adds he leads by way of words and deeds and he gives everyone confidence when the pressure is on.

Dillon becomes only the 2nd Breaker to play 200 games for the club following good mate Paul Henare who clocked up 250 appearances before retiring a couple of years ago. In addition he leads the club in steals (268), is second all time in assists (573) and 3rd all time in rebounds (873) and blocked shots (72).

Breakers head coach Andrej Lemanis probably sums up the feelings of team mates and opposition It is much better having Dillon playing with you than against you
