Prewster
Naturalized American Swingman Dion Prewster (195-G/F-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Wellington S., receiving a Usbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team IMS Hawks (#7, 0-18) with 48-point margin 120-72. Wellington S. maintains the 2nd position in New Zealand NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Wellington S. will need more victories to improve their 13-5 record. In the team's last game Prewster had a remarkable eight three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He just recently signed at Wellington S., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Dion Prewster averages this season 13.5ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American McKenzie Moore (198-G-92) of league's leader Canterbury. Moore had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 10 assists. Of course he led Canterbury to another comfortable win 116-98 over the lower-ranked Waitakere SCR (#4, 9-9) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Canterbury consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has currently 13-5 record. Moore is one of the most experienced players at Canterbury and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.3ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 6.2rpg and 8.2apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Australian guard Mitch Norton (184-G-93) of Southland S. (#3). Norton scored 21 points and passed nine assists. He was a key player of Southland S., leading his team to a 107-98 win against #4 ranked Waitakere SCR. Southland S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 7 lost games. Norton has a great season in New Zealand. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.4ppg (8th best) and assists with 5.2apg (4th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
