Tai Wynyard
Even the worst weather could not stop New Zealand's ongoing unbeaten run at the FIBA U18 World 3X3 Championships in Kazakhstan, with the boy's team winning their only game of the day 21-13 against Hungary before the weather hit and deferred their final pool game until later today (Sunday) New Zealand time. Once the storm hit the outdoor tournament had no choice but to come to a halt, meaning a busy final day of action with quarterfinals, semifinals and finals to be played overnight tonight NZT. The New Zealand boys' team will face Brazil in their final pool match looking to stay unbeaten and secure a higher seeding into the quarterfinal matches. New Zealand might only have been involved in one game on the day with the girls already through to the quarter finals unbeaten in pool play, but the silver fern continues to dominate the event with Tai Wynyard (205-C/F-98) leading all scorers in the boys tournament in points per game (11), named player of the day for his outstanding performance around the rim against Hungary and that match named match of the day for those same spectacular highlights from Tai Wynyard, Sam Waardenburg, Hamish McDonald and Isaac Letoa. The revised schedule has New Zealand boys playing Brazil at 4:50pm NZT today with the girls in their quarterfinal against the Czech Republic at 9:10pm NZT.
