Mackay Meteors (QBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 27-year old New Zealander power forward Gareth Dawson (206-89). He played this summer at Canterbury in New Zealand NBL league. In 12 games he recorded 5.9ppg and 4.2rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. Dawson won New Zealand NBL championship title in 2013.
He has played previously professionally in Australia (Illawarra Hawks and Cairns Taipans) and New Zealand (Jets, Giants and Sharks).
