Helsinki Seagulls (Korisliiga) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old American swingman Raymond Cowels III (193-90, college: Santa Clara, agency: Court Side). He played in the summer at Mike Pero Nelson Giants in New Zealand NBL league. In 18 games he recorded very impressive stats: 25.7ppg, 5.0rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL 1st Team and All-Imports Team. The last season Cowels III played at Halifax Hurricanes in Canadian NBL Canada. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL 1st Team and Australiabasket.com New Zealand NBL All-Imports Team.
Two years ago (a year after he left the college) Cowels III was drafted by Reno Bighorns (D-League) in eighth round (119th overall).
He attended Santa Clara University until 2013 and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.
Cowels III won NBA Pro Summer League in Orlando championship title in 2015.
He has played also professionally in Holland (Den Helder).

The University of Oklahoma Sooners may have only been in the country for 24 hours but they still proved far too good for the New Zealand Premier team winning 133-91 at Auckland Grammar School on Sunday.
