We bring you last week's top performances from New Zealanders who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Tai Jack Webster (193-95, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the Nebraska (5-8) in their last game. Despite Webster's very good performance the Nebraska was badly defeated 88-72 at home by the Michigan State University. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds in 29 minutes on the court. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Webster's fourth season with the team. Webster has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.8ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.0apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 48.7%, 3FGP: 31.0% and FT: 74.0% in 27 games he played so far. Ex-Advice First Waikato Pistons player is currently a member of the New Zealand senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former U18 international forward Tom Vodanovich (201-94, currently studies in the States). Vodanovich led JMU to a victory against the Drexel University (8-4) 70-64 in the NCAA on Thursday night. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. The James Madison University has 5-9 conference record this season. Vodanovich's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Vodanovich has been at the team for four years. This season his overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 52.3%, 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 71.4% in 26 games. Vodanovich played for the New Zealand U18 national team in 2012.

   #3. The New Zealand player who performed third best last week abroad was former U19 international guard Jayden Bezzant (188, currently plays in NCAA2). He contributed to a Northwest Nazarene University's victory against the Simon Fraser University 88-82 in the NCAA2 in Thursday night's game. Bezzant scored 15 points. The Northwest Nazarene University has 9-7 record this season. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA2 Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Bezzant's total stats this season are: 8.0ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.6apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 38.4%, 3FGP: 35.1% and FT: 71.0%. He played for the New Zealand U19 national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Mike Karena (208-93, college: Wright St., currently plays in Spain) led Sammic ISB to a victory over the 11th-ranked Agustinos-Leclerc (9-12) 93-79 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Sunday. Karena was MVP of the game. He scored 23 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 35 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Karena's third season in pro basketball. Sammic Iraurgi Saski Baloia (15-6) is placed second in the LEB Silver. Karena has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.9apg in 21 games. He is also New Zealand national team player.

   #5. Former international guard Jarrod Kenny (188-85, currently plays in Australia) managed to help Perth Wildcats to win against the closely-ranked Cairns Taipans (15-13) crushing them 91-69 in the Australian NBL on Friday night. Kenny recorded only 2 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Perth Wildcats (15-13) are placed third in the NBL. Kenny's total stats this season are: 4.2ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the New Zealand national team two years ago.

   #6. Guard Denhym Brooke (185, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to help the one of league's weakest teams BYU-Hawaii (4-14) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Brooke's good performance the BYU-Hawaii was defeated 80-75 on the road by the Dixie State College. He recorded 10 points. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA2. Brooke's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 7.1rpg and 2.0bpg. He is a former U19 international player as he played for the New Zealand team five years ago.

   #7. Former international center Jack Salt (211-96, is currently at the American university) was not able to secure a victory for the Virginia (8-4) in their game against the University of Miami, Florida (8-5) in the NCAA. He cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. Salt recorded only 2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. The Virginia was defeated 54-48 in Miami by the University of , Florida. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Salt's total stats this season are: 3.7ppg and 3.8rpg. He used to play for the New Zealand national team three years ago.

   #8. Power forward Gus Riley (203-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Bryant win their game against the St.Francis University (PA) (10-3) 79-75 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. He scored only 3 points in 3 minutes on the court. The Bryant University has 6-8 conference record this season. Riley's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. This year Riley's total stats are: 2.4ppg and 2.2rpg in 19 games. He used to play for the New Zealand U16 national team back in 2011.

   #9. Former U18 international forward Alex Talma (203-94, currently plays in NAIA) helped Biola University win their game against the San Diego Christian College 74-56 in the NAIA in Tuesday night's game. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The Biola University has a very solid 11-3 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the NAIA. It's Talma's first year with the team. Talma has averaged so far 7.3ppg and 4.9rpg. He used to play for the New Zealand U18 national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have New Zealand passport but never been selected to any of New Zealand national teams:

   #1. Yanni Wetzell (208-F, currently plays in NCAA2) could not help the Saint Mary's (TX) University (7-7) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Wetzell's very good performance the Saint Mary's (TX) University was badly defeated 90-72 on the road by the Newman University. He scored 29 points (!!!) and grabbed 4 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA2 Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Wetzell has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.7apg.

   #2. Izayah Mauriohooho-Le'afa (188-G-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Sacramento St. in their game against the Montana State University (11-2) in the NCAA. Mauriohooho-Le'afa scored 8 points and added 3 passes in 38 minutes. The Sacramento St. was edged 62-59 at home by the Montana State University. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. It's Mauriohooho-Le'afa's first season with the team. This year his total stats are: 4.5ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.8apg in 24 games he played so far. Mauriohooho-Le'afa is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in New Zealand.

   #3. Javaan Mumtaz (193-G, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to a Eastern New Mexico University's surprising victory against the Cameron University 81-73 in the NCAA2 on Saturday night. Mumtaz recorded 10 points in 17 minutes. The Eastern New Mexico University has not so impressive 3-7 record this season. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA2 Regular Season. This year Mumtaz's total stats are: 5.5ppg and 1.4rpg in 21 games.

   #4. Brandon Watkins (198-F, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to secure a victory for the Mars Hill College (3-16) in their game against the Coker College in the NCAA2. Watkins recorded only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. The Mars Hill College lost 96-101 in Hartsville to the Coker College. It was College's third consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA2 Regular Season. This year Watkins' total stats are: 5.7ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.1apg in 21 games.

   #5. Isaac Davidson (201-F, currently plays in NCAA2) managed to help Sonoma State University to win against the Humboldt State University 65-56 in the NCAA2 on Thursday night. He scored only 4 points. The Sonoma State University has quite an impressive 13-3 record this season. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the NCAA2 Regular Season. It's Davidson's first year with the team. Davidson's total stats this season are: 2.1ppg and 1.8rpg.

   #6. Nikau McCullough (188-G-97, currently plays in NCAA2) is a teammate of previously mentioned Yanni Wetzell. But that was another game of his team in NCAA2 which we would like to mention. McCullough couldn't help the Saint Mary's (TX) University in their game against the Texas A&M International University. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. McCullough recorded only 3 points. His team was defeated 66-53 in the NCAA2. This season McCullough averages just 2.4ppg.

   #7. Jordan Hunt (206-F, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the Southern Oregon University in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Southern Oregon University lost 77-89 in Klamath Falls to the Oregon Institute of Tech. Hunt scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Hunt averages only 2.4ppg in 16 games.
