Defending champion Wellington Saints (NBL) inked 28-year old Dutch ex-international power forward Josh Duinker (209-106kg-89, college: Richmond). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Australian passport. Duinker He played recently at Defensor in Uruguayan LUB league. In 12 games he recorded 14.3ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.5apg this season. Duinker also played that season for Regatas Corrientes in Argentinian LigaA where in 15 LUB games he averaged 8.7ppg and 6.3rpg.
Duinker won Atlantic 10 Tournament championship title in 2011.
He also represented Holland at the Qualifications to European Championships 2015 four years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 12.3ppg, 7.0rpg, FGP: 58.6%, 3PT: 40.0%, FT: 47.4%.
Duinker is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on four different continents (Europe, Latin America, Australia and of course North America). Duinker has played previously professionally in Bulgaria (Lukoil Academic Sofia), Hungary (Kormend), Spain (Caceres_Basket), Australia (Kings), Holland (Leiden) and New Zealand (Giants).
He attended University of Richmond until 2012 and it is his fifth season in pro basketball.
Duinker's game is described as: A very good athlete at his size. Has solid moves going over both right and left shoulder but prefers the left. Possesses a soft touch. Can float out to the perimeter and be a real offensive threat from the 3pt line.. Finishes strong around the basket. A very capable dunker and goes up strong to finish inside. Possess great work ethic and is fundamentally sound in his skills. Fantastic at running the floor and can get up and down with the guards. Very coach-able and has great winners attitude. Well coached at college and has a high IQ for the game. Will flourish in a transition game and also one that allows him to face the basket as well as working in the block. Can be a very capable player to handle the land and challenge shots at the rim.

Saints' future uncertain - 1 month ago
Kevin Braswell will be back at the Wellington Saints next season, provided he has a team to coach. Saints owner Nick Mills confirmed on Thursday the 38-year-old American had re-signed on a two-year deal, with an option for both parties to get out after one season if they wanted to. Braswell guided the Saints to back-to-back National Basketball League titles in his first two seasons in charge, including a perfect 20-0 season this year. But Mills has been left miffed by a proposed rule chan...   [read more]
