Corey
Webster
International Guard Corey Webster (188-G-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Wellington S., receiving a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, four rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Taylor Hawks (#7, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 102-91. It allowed Wellington S. to consolidate first place in the New Zealand NBL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Wellington S. already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Webster had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Wellington S., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Lambuth University star has very solid stats this year. Webster is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.3ppg. Webster is in league's top in assists (5th best: 5.3apg) and averages impressive 54.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old Australian Nick Kay (206-C/F-92) of Southland S.. Kay had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds. It was enough for Southland S. to edge Nelson G. (0-4) 100-94. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Kay is one of the most experienced players at Southland S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Southland S.'s star - Australian guard Mitch Norton (184-G-93). Norton showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was another key player of Southland S., helping his team with a 100-94 win against Nelson G. (#6, 0-4). Southland S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Norton has a great season in New Zealand. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.0apg (6th best).

4. Mitchell McCarron (191-G-92) of SC Rangers - 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
