Webster
International Guard Corey Webster (188-G-88) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Wellington S. and that's him to receive a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 28-year old guard had the game-high 31 points adding four rebounds and seven assists for Wellington S. in his team's victory, helping them to beat Canterbury (#4, 3-3) 114-104. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Wellington S. to consolidate first place in the New Zealand NBL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Wellington S. already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Webster had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He just recently signed at Wellington S., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Lambuth University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Webster is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.5ppg. Webster is in league's top in assists (6th best: 5.2apg) and averages solid 54.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old Australian Nick Kay (206-C/F-92) of second-ranked Southland S.. Kay impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds. Of course he led Southland S. to another comfortable win outscoring SC Rangers (3-2) 100-73. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Southland S. consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 3-2 record is not bad at all. Kay is one of the most experienced players at Southland S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Marcel Jones (203-F-85) of Canterbury (#4). Jones got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds . Despite Jones' great performance Canterbury lost 104-114 to #1 ranked Wellington S.. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Canterbury needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Jones has a great season in New Zealand. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.2ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.7rpg (3rd best). Marcel Jones has also New Zealand passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Alonzo Burton (193-G-93) of Taranaki MA - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
