Tai Wesley
American-Fijian Forward Tai Wesley (201-F-86, agency: MKP Management) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Wellington S., receiving a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Taylor Hawks (#7, 3-13) 98-90. It allowed Wellington S. to consolidate first place in the New Zealand NBL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Wellington S. keeps a perfect 17-0 record. In the team's last game Wesley had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Wellington S., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Utah State University star has very solid stats this year. Wesley is in league's top in points (6th best: 18.9ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.1rpg) and averages impressive 66.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Wellington S.'s star - 28-year old former international guard Corey Webster (188-G-88). Webster had a very good evening with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Wellington S. cruised to a 98-90 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Taylor Hawks (#7, 3-13). Of course Wellington S. still keep the league's top spot. He plays for the best team in the league and Wellington S. managed to win all 17 games keeping a perfect record. Webster is one of the most experienced players at Wellington S. and similarly like Tai Wesley has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.1ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 4.1rpg and 5.2apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Australian center James Hunter (208-C-92) of Southland S. (#3). Hunter scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Southland S., leading his team to a 91-70 easy win against the lower-ranked Taranaki MA (#6, 4-13). Southland S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 6 lost games. Hunter has a very solid season. In 14 games in New Zealand he scored 7.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Reuben Te Rangi (198-F/G-94) of Southland S. - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Nick Kay (206-C/F-92) of Southland S. - 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Ethan Rusbatch (196-G/F-92) of Canterbury - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Lindsay Tait (190-G-82) of SC Rangers - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Aaron Bailey-Nowell (196-F/G-81) of Taranaki MA - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Brook Ruscoe (187-G-90) of SC Rangers - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Mike Karena (208-C-93) of Canterbury - 17 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
