This time they dealt with the hosts and booked the second spot after preliminary round. New Caledonia will now face Guam in the semifinal tomorrow. Northern Mariana Islands failed to post a single victory and finished the competition at the bottom of the ladder. Raymond Weber (195-F-89) fired 28 points and grabbed 7 boards to pace New Caledonia to the victory. Northern Mariana Islands stayed close early in the encounter as the teams were tied at 13 midway through the frame. But New Caledonia went on a 9:0 run to take the lead for good. New Caledonia exploded with 29 points in the second frame to accumulate a massive 27-point lead at halftime. Northern Mariana Islands showed character in the third quarter as cheered up by the fans they outscored the visitors 20:19. But it was just a spark as New Caledonia regained control in the final term and eased to the win at the end. Rodrigue Tetainanuarii (203-F-82) notched 21 points and 9 boards for New Caledonia. Jean-Jacques Taufana (185-F-86) had 10 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Oscar Ada replied with 12 points and 6 boards for Northern Mariana Islands. Pete Iguel posted 11 points, 7 assists and 5 boards in the losing effort.

Northern Mariana Islands - Australia 41:107 Australia coasted to the fourth straight win at the Oceania championship. They thumped Northern Mariana Islands today to book the top spot finish in the preliminary action. Six players scored in double digits for Australia in the win. Jeremy Hill notched 22 points to lead the charge. The hosts in the meantime slipped at 0-3 record at the bottom of the ladder. Australia outmuscled their opponents on the boards 75:27 and eventually had an overwhelming advantage in every facet of the game. The Australian team marked their advantage early in the game as they edged the hosts 28:10 in the first frame. Having built a comfortable lead Aussies cruised later on. They stretched the buffer at 34 points at the interval. The tempo decreased in the third stanza but it did not prevent Australia from taking a 45-point lead into the final frame. They maintained the pressure till the final seconds and celebrated another victory in Saipan. Jan Warbout nailed 16 points for the winners. Benjamin Purser tallied 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the visitors. Jericho Cruz had 13 points for Northern Mariana Islands. Jomary Tumaquip delivered 7 points in defeat.

Guam National Team celebrated the first win at the Oceania championship in Saipan. They held off the hosts today to climb at 1-1 record. Northern Mariana Islands remained winless at 0-2 record.

Guam National Team celebrated the first win at the Oceania championship in Saipan. They held off the hosts today to climb at 1-1 record. Northern Mariana Islands remained winless at 0-2 record. Guam fired from all guns in the starting period accounting for 25 points. They claimed a 10-point advantage despite committing 14 turnovers in the first ten minutes. The hosts braced up in the second frame and slowed their opponents down. Guam still kept Northern Mariana Islands at bay building a 46:33 advantage at halftime. Guam raised the tempo after the major break opening a 20+ advantage. They fired 28 points in the third quarter to clear off for good in this one. Both teams were plagued by turnovers combining for impossible 89 of those. But Guam dominated the boards and deservedly rolled to the victory at the end. Joseph Blas (183-G/F) fired 23 points and collected 11 boards to pace Guam. Andrew Borja added 18 points, while Jine Han finished with 15 points, 11 boards, 6 steals and 6 assists for the winners. Pete Iguel responded with 21 points for CNMI. Jericho Cruz tallied 19 points in defeat.
