Guam - Northern Mariana Islands 78:33 Guam clinched the title at the 2010 Micronesian Games held in Palau. They held off Northern Mariana Islands in the championship battle in Koror. Northern Mariana Islands entered the game as the defending champions as they won the title back in 2006. But Guam did not give those too many chances to hope for the repeat of the success. Guam knocked down their opponents in the starting frame earning a 21:9 lead. Guam scored eagerly in the second quarter as the margin just kept on growing. Northern Mariana Islands faced a massive 18-point deficit at halftime 20:38. Guam held their opponents to just 9 points in the third term and stretched the margin to 29-point mark with ten minutes left. Northern Mariana Islands surrendered scoring only 4 points in the fourth period. Jocelyn Pardilla (157-G) knocked down 18 points to pace Guam. Brianna Benito contributed 14 points, while Kathryn Castro finished with 11 points for the winners. Li'Amwar Ramgamar answered with 9 points for CNMI. Lalaine Pagarao accounted for 8 points in defeat.

Palau opened the 7th Micronesian Games campaign with victory. The hosts of the tournament knocked down Northern Mariana Islands. Palau gradually picked up the tempo and ran away for the victory at the end.
Palau and CNMI stayed close throughout the starting quarter. The hosts were up by just two points at the first break. But gradually Palau grabbed the initiative. The second and third terms helped Palau stretch the margin to 8 points

Connie Comacho responded with 13 points for CNMI. Lia Rangamar had 9 points in the losing effort. Palau and Northern Mariana Islands will fight against Guam, Chuuk, Marshall Islands for the trophy.

Northern Mariana Islands - Australia 24:97 Australia celebrated the fourth consecutive win at the Oceania championship in Saipan. They held off Northern Mariana Islands on the last day of the preliminary round. Australia advanced into the semifinals from the top spot and would now face Guam. Northern Mariana Islands had their backs against wall with no wins before the game. But the difference was overwhelming as Australia started to prove that right after the start. The Aussie team raced to a 15-point lead after ten minutes. Australia maintained the lead and though Northern Mariana Islands played it safe committing not that many turnovers they could not threaten the margin. Australia stretched the gap to as many as 37 points at halftime. The offensive struggled persisted for the hosts in the second half. They accounted for only 12 points in the next two frames allowing Australia to coast to the win. Hope Terdich (192-F-86) and Rebecca Cole came up with 16 points apiece for Australia. Emma Lobb (188-F-90) added 14 points and 18 rebounds in the victory. Concepcion Camacho responded with 10 points for Northern Mariana Islands. Nicole Lebria had 7 points in defeat. The semifinals are scheduled for tomorrow.
