JOSHUA recovered from a slow start en route to a 67-62 victory against Caleb in the CIM-Filipino Community Church Inter-color Basketball League. Genesis Invitational Cup 2006?last Thursday at the CIM court in Gualo Rai.
Joshua was down in the first quarter, 14-17, when it made its move in the second period and hung on to the lead in the second half.
Ian Gonzaga led Joshua's recovery nailing eight of his 17 points in the second quarter to put his team in the driver's seat at halftime, 28-22.
After a hot start scoring nine in the first quarter, Caleb's M. Teofisto, was held scoreless in the second period. Caleb also shot poorly in the second canto connecting on only two field goals and a free throw.
Danny Dayrit tried to bring Caleb back into the lead in the third period firing 10 points in that canto. But he had little success as Joshua held its ground with Boy Espiritu and Erwin Cabaddu drilling crucial baskets to keep their team in the lead, 41-38, entering the final canto.
The fourth period was a close battle, but Joshua emerged victorious at the end with Gonzaga finding his marks anew in the payoff quarter scoring seven and Martin Moreno nailing nine of his 11 points in that quarter.
In the first game Daniel slipped past Ezekiel, 55-52.
Jeff Garcia earned a living from the free throw line connecting on 20 charities and finishing with 24 points.
Marlon De Dios led Ezekiel's losing cause scoring 23 markers.

Banmi brings back bigger Settsu tournament - 3 Years ago
According to tournament director and coordinator Gabriel White, the Settsu Red Impulse Basketball Club is bringing in two U18 teams (girls and boys) for the sixth edition of the tournament that will run from March 26 to 28 at the Marianas High School Gymnasium. Northern Mariana Islands - Palau 67:61 Northern Mariana Islands posted the first win at the 2010 Micronesian Games. They rebounded after a bitter loss to Pohnpei in the opener. Northern Mariana Islands held off hosting Palau to improve at 1-1 record. Palau slipped at 0-2 record at the tournament. CNMI quickly gained the lead in this one. CNMI - Pohnpei 67:71 Northern Mariana Islands got to a slow start of the 7th Micronesian Games in Palau. They lost the opener to Pohnpei. Northern Mariana Islands got to a slow start. They were down by 7 points 11:18 at the first break. But the strong second quarter helped them take a 34:29 advantage at the interval. Pohnpei stressed the game inside the paint and it paid off.
