The field for the South Pacific Mini-Games Basketball tournament is set. Eight teams will compete in the men event, seven in the women tournament. Unfortunatly, many teams had to withdraw mostly because of the airfaire costs like Samoa, Nauru or Tahiti.

The official rosters hasn't been released yet, the tournament will start on Monday 25th July.
Men Tournament teams:
Federal States of Micronesia
Fiji
Guam
Marshall Islands
New Caledonia
Palau
Papua New Guinea
Solomon Islands
Guam, Fiji and New Caledonia are the tournament's favourites. Micronesia and Papua New Guina might be able to compete against these teams, we'd wait for the rosters to be finalized to appreciate the squad's rosters. Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands and the home squad Palau might have some troubles to reach the semifinals.

Women Tournament teams:
Federal States of Micronesia
Fiji
Guam
New Caledonia
Palau
Papua New Guinea
Solomon Islands
The same teams that are competing in the men tourney, but Marshall Islands won't field a team in the ladies competition. Fiji would be the number one favourite but the road won't be easy against Guam, New Caledonia or Papua New Guina. Palau, Solomon Islands and Micronesia would try to do their best.

Peched Raw made an impossible feat as they went on retain their title as champions after beating Ngermid Rivals, 93-87 in Game Five of the 2014 IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym.
