BFPNG Open starts this weekend - Jan 7, 2005

According to an article by The National newspaper the inaugural corporate BFPNG Open kicks off on Sunday at the Sir John Guise indoor complex with 17 teams in the running. The competition is in aid of the federation’s preparations toward this year mini SP Games in Palau.

 

This weekend’s matches see Kenmore up against Golden Roosters in the opening men’s match followed by PB Cheung up against C&R Medicare. FPR Lakers have been slotted against Culdel, and Waterboard will meet Post PNG. C&R Medicare will play two matches this weekend, the other being against PNG Pest Control.

 

The Women’s fixtures see Waterbaord against PB Cheung in the opener of the day. Post PNG will do battle with PNG Pest Control while PKA Angels meets Culdel. FPR Lakers take on C&R Medicare.


Teams must abide by tournament rules that:
Players must be employees or immediate family members of an employee of the organization.
Each team is limited to registering 10 players per team.
Each team must have two sets of uniforms – one light & one dark with a dominating color.
Uniforms do not necessarily mean basketball uniforms, although all teams should be in proper sportswear attire.
All players must sign an indemnity form and competition will be based on FIBA Rules apply
Competition will be round robin games over five weekends, with the top four teams playing off for finals in week five.
Two rounds will be played each weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Teams may interchange players for any game as long as they are of the original 10 players registered.
