The New Zealand CBL Finals are happening this weekend with many Samoans participating for their teams. Day 1 saw good performance for the Samoan players
Stan Bidois (189-G) (Waitakere U23)
Stan Bidois (189-G) came off the bench with 18 points, 2rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 2 steals in 27 minutes of play in a 76-85 loss to Hutt Valley. Waitakere U23 also lost to Waikato Red later in the day 73-80 with no individual stats available for the game.
Damien Ekenasio (187-G-81) (Hutt Valley)
Damien Ekenasio (187-G-81) had some good performances in Day 1 of the competition. Against Waitakere U23, Ekenasio had 18 points 2 rebounds and 2 steals in 20 minutes of play. Waitakere U23 won the game 85-76. He backed up with another good performance against Nelson Suns in an 80-69 victory. Ekenasio had 14 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal in 24 minutes of play. Hutt Valley is undefeated so far and has advanced in the semi finals
Mason LePou (194-G-77) (Waikato Red)
Mason LePou (194-G-77) has had the best performance so far by any Samoan. LePou scored 19 pts in a 94-67 win against the Nelson Suns and top scored with 30 points in an 80-73 win over the Waitakere U-23.Fellow Samoans Earl Smith (193-G-73) and Janeiro Seumanu (193-G/F-74) had 14 points and 6 points respectively in Waikato Red win against Nelson Suns. Jonathon Leasi (Bedpost Auckland) started for his team where he had 6 points 2 rebounds and 4 assists in an 84-71 win over Capital Punishment.
