 The Vanuatu Basketball Federation decided not to send the National team to play in the upcoming 2007 South Pacific Games which will be held in Samoa at the end of August. This is obviously a huge setback for basketball in the country, hopefully the country will be able to field a team in the 2008 FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament in Guam.

 Stade United is the new champion of the Port-Vila Basketball Association. The SU players defeated the defending champion Cannons in the semifinals before defeating Ginias 57-47 in the final game at the Angilcan Mission Court. Semifinals: Stade United - Cannons: 40-26 Ginias - Au Bon Marche: 42-39 Finals: Stade United - Ginias: 57-47

 After the PVBA Top4 pool phase, the defending champion Cannons is still winless. With three losses, Cannons will have to play against the undefeated Stade United. The other semifinals will be a contest bewteen Au Bon Marche and Ginias. The games will be played on the Anglican Mission Court.

 The Port Vila Basketball Association pool phase is over. Eight teams entered the tournament but only four will move to the next level: the PVBA Top 4. The teams will be a round robin pool before heading to the semifinals. The PVBA Finals are scheduled on October 14. Last year, Cannons won the trophy but the road would be harder this season.

 Penama was able to defeat Port-Vila 35-33 in the pool phase but the players from the capital city led by NT players Elvis Silas and Lesly Kasten won the Gold medal game against the same Penama team to take the Gold medal. This is the 5th win in a row for Port-Vila in the Vanuatu Games Men Basketball Tournament. Please read below for the final standings, results and team rosters.

 The Vanuatu Games are the most important sporting event of the country, let's make a short preview of the Basketball Tournament which will be held in Saint Patrick College on Ambae Island. Four times defending champion Port-Vila will be the number one favourite.

 The best secondary schools basketball teams were on Malapoa court in Port-Vila last week to play in the national tournament. Vila City College took the Gold medal over Sorovanga School, the host Malapoa College secured the Bronze medal. Final Standings: 1-Vila City College 2-Sorovanga School 3-Malapoa College 4-Onesua Prebytarian 5-Central School 6-Malapoa College B

 As it is required that the winners of the competition have to travel the longest road and over come more fights than every contesting team. The Boys team from Mele Maat have been on the road for victory since June this year. After being winners of their pools they had battle through the semi finals before they could achieve their goal on the 26th of July.

 The Independence tournament has been celebrated every year in all provinces of Vanuatu in commemoration of the country's independence in 1980 and has become one of the most competitive event of the Port Vila Basketball Association.
