University of South Pacific scolarships for basketball players available - Nov 17, 2005

In 2006 the University of the South Pacific will launch its All-rounder Scholarship Scheme which will give students from around the region an opportunity to study full-time at the University while furthering their sporting careers.


The USP is divided in three campuses: Alafua (Samoa), Emalus (vanuatu) and Laucala (Fiji). USP has received support from various local and international companies and individuals in the form of sponsorship for these scholarships which will allow successful applicants to maximise their career potential through higher education in a discipline of their choice.
A total of 50 scholarships will be awarded to "all-rounders" who will commence his or her full-time studies at USP in 2006. Athletes will be chosen from one of the following disciplines: Athletics, Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball and Weightlifting.
Unfortunately to date the response from sporting organisations and individuals around the region, the response in the form of applications for these scholarships, has been quite low. ONOC fully supports the USP initiative and we would encourage all those involved in sports development in the region to assist in identifying worthwhile candidates for these scholarships. While there may a feeling among sportsmen and women in the region that they may not be "university material" the USP also offers pre degree and foundation courses which can be accessed through the All-rounder scholarship. Shefa Basketball League Quarter Finals Kick Off Today - 3 months ago
Wan Smolbag Shefa Basketball League President - Peter Izono has announced that the League will be hosting its Championship quarter final games today, Wednesday 9th of May. The games will be at the home of Shefa Basketball league at the Wan Smolbag Sports Complex. VBF makes final 3X3 selection for Mini Games - 9 months ago
Vanuatu Basketball Federation (VBF) this week announced its final Squad in both the Men's and Women's category of its 3x3 Basketball Teams. It will be the first time Vanuatu will participate in the 3X3 format. In the Men's National team are Manoah Moli, Aaron Daniel, Vira Hensley and Antoine Marceau. Six school team from Ambae, three from Pentecost and one from Maevo, including total of ten school participate on that event.
