Vanuatu Games: Port-Vila wins 5th consecutive Gold medal - Sep 28, 2006

Penama was able to defeat Port-Vila 35-33 in the pool phase but the players from the capital city led by NT players Elvis Silas and Lesly Kasten won the Gold medal game against the same Penama team to take the Gold medal. This is the 5th win in a row for Port-Vila in the Vanuatu Games Men Basketball Tournament. Please read below for the final standings, results and team rosters.

Six school team from Ambae, three from Pentecost and one from Maevo, including total of ten school participate on that event. No Vanuatu teams in the South Pacific Games - 10 Years ago
The Vanuatu Basketball Federation decided not to send the National team to play in the upcoming 2007 South Pacific Games which will be held in Samoa at the end of August. This is obviously a huge setback for basketball in the country, hopefully the country will be able to field a team in the 2008 FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament in Guam.   [read more]

Stade United is the new champion of the Port-Vila Basketball Association. The SU players defeated the defending champion Cannons in the semifinals before defeating Ginias 57-47 in the final game at the Angilcan Mission Court.
