Local Filipinos hold Basketball Awards Night

Local Filipinos had a great time last Saturday accepting awards and cheering each other during the Filipino Sports Tournament Awards Night held at the Tafuna High School Gymnasium.
In his welcome remarks, Wennie Montecillo, chairperson of this year's Filipino Basketball Tournament explained that the event was held in honor of athletes, both winners and losers, for showing commendable sportsmanship.
The first part of the awarding was for basketball teams on the Junior Division. Corona received first place while AND 1 and Sta. Lucia took second and third place respectively. In the Senior Division, the Corona Team is still the champion. Sta. Lucia team came in second place while United Constructor stood at third place.
Individual awards were presented to the following athletes: Nathaniel Uy (Corona) for Junior Most Valuable Player, Sonny Manansala (Sta. Lucia) for Senior MVP, Benny Silapan (Sta. Lucia) for Rookie of the Year, and Fleance Fernando (AND 1) for Most Improved Player. Sportsmanship Awards were also given to Saturday Club and Sepp's.
