American Samoa Iona Enosa (208-C-70, college: BYU-Hawaii) have been hired by the NZ Breakers to replace Ben Melmeth, who will be injuried for at least a month. Enosa would be the first ever Am Samoan player to play in the NBL.He may be available for Sunday's night game against the Melbourne Tigers.
Coach Green knows Enosa well, he was part of Green’s Waikato Titans squad that won the 2003 Burger King League regular season title before being upset 97-88 in overtime in the final by the St Laurence Saints. The powerful centre ranked third in Field Goal % at 61.1% in the 2003 Burger King League while averaging 11.78pts and 6.56 rebounds during the regular season. The 2.08m, 113kg Enosa was the MVP of the finals series when Auckland won the national title in 1999 and has also played professionally in Poland and South Korea after a standout college career at BYU Hawaii.
