Samoa qualified to Pacific Games 2023 as they defeated American Samoa 83-58 at the end of the Polynesian Games 2022. Samoa clinched second place and together with Cook Islands qualified for the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands. The Pacific Games then serves as the official qualifier for the Oceania region to the FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualifiers.
Malama Leaupepe (173-G-1996) top-scored for the winners with 37 points and 13 rebounds. Loreighelle Joseph (175-F-2004) posted 15 and Azaleeah Oloapu (180-C-2006) scored 14. Malia Nawahine (178-G-1995) replied with 29 points and 13 rebounds in a loss.
