2025 Big V Women's Grand Final Review-Aug 30, 2025
2025 Big V Women's Grand Final Review
Bulleen Boomers 71 def. Bellarine Storm 55
Bulleen complete title mission, deny Storm fairytale finish

In front of a packed and passionate crowd at the State Basketball Centre, the Bulleen Boomers cemented their legacy with a commanding 71-55 victory over the Bellarine Storm in the 2025 Big V Women’s Grand Final, claiming their second title in four years and capping off a fourth consecutive Grand Final appearance.

Led by inspirational captain Catelyn Van Es, the Boomers controlled the contest from the outset, using their experience, size and composure to stifle a gallant Bellarine side making its first-ever grand final appearance. Van Es was simply unstoppable, delivering a monster double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds to earn Grand Final MVP honours and anchor her team on both ends of the floor.

Bulleen’s frontcourt dominance was the difference, with American forward Jennie Rintala chipping in 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Maddison Zugna had a breakout performance with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a high-energy display. Young big Sarae Beveridge also stepped up on the big stage, scoring 11 points and providing vital scoring bursts when needed.

For Bellarine, the result stings but the moment still marks a historic achievement for a club that has only recently joined the top tier of Big V competition. Captain Courtney Strait was tireless in her efforts, top-scoring with 19 points and refusing to let her side go down without a fight. Olivia Virt (12 points) and Charlotte Armstrong (11 points) provided offensive support, but Bellarine struggled to find rhythm against Bulleen’s suffocating defensive pressure and consistent rebounding, with Bulleen winning the rebounding count 59-34.

For the Boomers, the win solidifies their place as a Big V powerhouse. With a core built around leadership, toughness and finals experience, they once again proved they know how to get it done when it matters most.
