The season awards are distributed in WNBL
The season ended in the WNBL and the annual awards were given to the best performers and coaches. The Sydney Uni Flames long-time leader Natalie Porter (185-F-80) was awarded as the WNBL Most Valuable Player of the season. She bested the league in scoring with 24.6 points per game. She accounted for 41 point twice in the season and her results highlights the third-best record in the league's history. Natalie Porter also dished out 4.7 assists per appearance which was the second-best result in the league. She also posted 7.6 rebounds per game in the season. Natalie Porter led her Sydney Uni Flames to the WNBL Grand Final, where they were outscored by the Adelaide Lightning.
The Canberra Capitals' head coach Carrie Graf was trumped the Coach of the Year for 2007/08 season. It was Graf's 11th-season in the WNBL and she registered a 183-60 win-loss record. She steered the Capitals to a 17-7 record in the regular season which was worth the third spot in the ladder. Canberra then quite unexpectedly fell short in the opening round of playoffs losing to Dandendong. Carrie Graf won the WNBL title for four times in her coaching career. The last triumph came last year as the Capitals beat the Sydney Uni Flames in the decider. Carrie Graf also worked as the assistant coach for the Australian national team during the 1996 and 200o Olympic Games and 1998 World Champs.
The AIS point guard Nicole Hunt (167-G-88) was singled out as the WNBL Rookie of the Year. The 18-year-old point guard averaged 10.2 points and 4.1 assists per game in the season. She helped AIS to their overall 8 wins in the season.
The league also announced the All-Star Five for the 2007/08 season. The All-Star Five comprised Natalie Porter of the Sydney Uni Flames, Rohanee Cox (182-F-80) of the Townsville Fire, Tracy Gahan (183-G-80) from the Adelaide Lightning, Kathleen Macleod (166-G-86) of the Bendigo Spirit and Jessica Foley (182-G-83, college: Duke) of the Lightning.

Adelaide Lightning is the new WNBL Champion!
Adelaide Lightning - Sydney Uni Flames 92:82

The Adelaide Lightning won their first WNBL title in the last 10 years edging the Sydney Uni Flames at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre yesterday. Renae Camino (177-G-86) dropped game-high 32 points to pace the Lightning as they were unstoppable en route to a historic triumph. Renae Camino was named the Grand Final MVP. On the other hand it was a devastating sixth loss for the Sydney Uni Flames in the last 7 seasons. It was a real intriguing final with the stakes flying too high. Adelaide got to a faster start and built a 30:16 lead after the opening frame. But the Sydney Uni Flames used all their experience and wit to maintain the pressure. They tightened up the defense in the second period limiting the Lightning to only 10 points and trimmed the deficit to just 5 points at sides change 35:40. But the Lightning were back in the driving seat in the third term. Camino was impressive and Adelaide started to get away. They outgunned the Flames 26:18 in the third quarter and extended the buffer to as many as 13 points. The Flames gradually died out and Adelaide easily rolled to an overall victory in the end. Erin Phillips (173-G-85) contributed 16 points and 7 boards, while Sam Woosnam (185-F-78) produced 13 points and 8 boards for the winners. Natalie Porter (185-F-80) opposed the Lightning with 23 points and 7 boards. Alicia Poto (166-G-78) dropped 18 points, while Michelle Musselwhite (176-G/F-82) had 16 points and 9 rebounds in defeat. Adelaide outrebounded their opponents 46:33 and converted solid 48% from the field finishing with the Grand Final record 92 points for the game.

Adelaide: Renae Camino 32, Erin Phillips 16, Sam Woosnam 13
Sydney: Natalie Porter 23, Alicia Poto 18, Michelle Musselwhite 16+9 boards
