Rockhampton Rockets clinch QBL Title as they won the Final game over Mackay Meteors. At first in the Semifinal games on August 20th Mackay rolled over SW Metro to take the place in the Final. Rockhampton Rockets meanwhile edged Gold Coast G.87:50 and advanced to the Final.
Last night Rockhampton Rockets overcame Mackay Meteors 74:63. The Rockets opened the game with 14:12 and added defensive 17-7 in the second period. The Meteors bounced back with 20-12 in the third frame and brought intrigue back into the game. Due to 31-24 in the last period the Rockets managed to lift up the trophy. Reggie Golson (201-F-81, agency: Court Side, college: SE Missouri St.) top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Peni Nasalo nailed 15. Glenn Scott scored 10, while Michael Kingma and Ryan McDade (201-F-80, college: N.Arizona) had 9 points apiece. Todd Blanchfield responded with 22 points in the losing effort and John Fitzgerald (193-G-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) poured in 20.
