Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe
Bendigo Spirit (WNBL) landed 25-year old Canadian international power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser). She played most recently at TSV 1880 Wasserburg in German DBBL. In 29 games she averaged 14.1ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.0apg and 1.5spg last season. Raincock-Ekunwe helped them to win the DBBL title and the cup. It was a very successful season in her career as she was selected to Eurobasket.com German DBBL All-Imports Team. Raincock-Ekunwe also played 6 games in Eurocup where she had 13.3ppg and 9.7rpg.
The previous (14-15) season Raincock-Ekunwe played at TH Wohnbau Angels in DBBL. In 25 games she was second best scorer with impressive 19.5ppg and recorded 12.6rpg (leader !!!), 2.2apg and 2.3spg (in top 5). She can count that season as a very successful as was awarded Eurobasket.com All-German DBBL Import Player of the Year, Eurobasket.com All-German DBBL Defensive Player of the Year and Center of the Year.
Among other achievements Raincock-Ekunwe received Basketball BC University Player of the Year award back in 2011, 2012 and 2013 at her college time.
Raincock-Ekunwe has been also a member of Canadian international program for some years. She has regularly played for Canadian senior team since 2013 and previously for University National Team in 2011.
Raincock-Ekunwe also represented Canada at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) this year. Her stats at that event were 6 games: 7.7ppg, 6.0rpg, FGP: 59.3%, FT: 66.7%.
Raincock-Ekunwe has played also professionally in Switzerland (Pully).
She attended Simon Fraser University until 2013 and it will be her fourth season in pro basketball.
