Australian State League round 16 best performance: Shanavia Dowdell - Jul 5, 2017

Shanavia
Dowdell
American Power forward Shanavia Dowdell (188-PF-87, agency: LBM Management) had an amazing evening in the last round for Rockhampton C., receiving a Australiabasket.com State League Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 44 points and 11 rebounds, while her team beat Gold Coast R. (#13, 0-11), the league's bottom-ranked team 87-72. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings in QBL. Rockhampton C. maintains the 10th position in their group in Australian State League. Rockhampton C. is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-8 record. In the team's last game Dowdell had a remarkable 82.6% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Rockhampton C., through which she has constantly improved. Shanavia Dowdell averages this season 23.9ppg and 10.9rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Jessica Good (186-F-94) of Norwood F.. Good had a very good evening with a triple-double of 26 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists. Of course she led Norwood F. to another comfortable win 102-83 over the lower-ranked Woodville W. (#8, 3-11) being unquestionably team leader. Norwood F.'s 3rd position in Premier League has not changed. Her team's 11-3 record is not bad at all. Good is one of the most experienced players at Norwood F. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Olivia Thompson (185-F-93) of Forestville E. (#5). Thompson got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. She went also for seventeen rebounds and four assists. She was a key player of Forestville E., leading her team to a 76-53 easy win against the lower-ranked S.Adelaide P. (#9, 2-12). Forestville E. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Premier League. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 5 lost games. Thompson has a great season in Australia. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.9rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kersten Mitchell (185-F-90) of Cockburn C. - 33 points and 12 rebounds
5. Sarah Boothe (195-F/C-90) of Bulleen B. - 30 points, 17 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Lucy Dawson (181-F-91) of Knox R. - 26 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Keely Froling (188-F-96) of Canberra C. - 27 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Erin Todd (175-G-86) of Manly Warr. SE - 36 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Markel Walker (185-F-90) of Ipswich F. - 23 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Shelby Cheslek (196-C-92) of SW Metro P. - 19 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

State Leagues Round-Up - 2 days ago
There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Knox Raiders (11-2) in Wantirna South on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by sixth ranked Sharks (6-5) 93-73. Sharks forced 20 Knox Raiders turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Sharks especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 pe...   [read more]

Bishop is back at Tarbes, ex Sunshine CP - 9 days ago
ABBY BISHOP Tarbes Gespe Bigorre (LFB) signed 29-year old Australian international center Abby Bishop (189-88). It is actually her comeback to Tarbes as she has played here before. Bishop played this summer at Sunshine Coast Phoenix in Australian QBL. In 9 games she had very impressive stats: 24.9ppg, 13.4rpg, 6.1apg, 1.4spg and 1.0bpg. Great season as she was named to Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL 2nd Team and League Player of the Week. Bishop ended the last season at Dynamo i...   [read more]
